In Listing Mirror, we have the ability to import your preexisting listings from your marketplaces. Along with your listing data comes your quantity. But what if we import a listing from a channel but that listing already exists in Listing Mirror with quantity from another channel? This article is to explain what happens with your quantity when we import a listing!
When you first set up your Listing Mirror account, one of your integrated channels is marked as what is called The Listing Source. This is a sort of source of truth for your listings. This is where Listing Mirror will go for listing data if it's not in the Product Catalog, and this is where we default for your quantity. More often than not, the Listing Source is your Amazon account. This would be different if you don't have an Amazon account, or if you requested the source be a different channel.
Now, when you have listings imported in at different times from different channels but they both have quantity, the Listing Source comes into play. Listing Mirror will default to the Listing Source when choosing to either keep the quantity for the listing we just imported, or to ignore the quantity for the listing we just imported.
For example, if you have SKU 123 on both Amazon and eBay, and Amazon is your Listing Source. You have 10 quantity on Amazon, and 12 on eBay.
If we import the Amazon listing first, we will take the 10 quantity as it's the first time we've seen the listing. Then, if we import the eBay listing, we will ignore the 12 quantity because Amazon is the Listing Source.
However, if the situation is reversed. Say we import the eBay listing first, we will take that 12 quantity as it's the first time we've seen the listing. Then, if we import the Amazon listing, we will replace the 12 quantity with 10 because Amazon is the Listing Source and we default that quantity to be true.
